Noticing unexpected color in unusual places is one of the qualities that got me interested in photography, and I’m always astounded at how often this happens in New York. This was taken on a W 23rd Street stoop on my way to High Line Park. The subject matter is completely uninteresting, but the colors make it artful and alluring. I could see this on a small size canvas in a living area adding a slash of color to an earth-toned interior. Taken with a Zeiss 35mm f1.4 lens with a Canon 5D Mark III camera.
