Stunningly clear reflections in the cold winter water with a perfect balance of light and dark. This is one of my favorite photographs with it’s incredible balance of tonality and composition. Noticing unexpected color in unusual places is one of the qualities that got me interested in photography, and I’m always astounded at how often this happens in New York. This was taken on a W 23rd Street stoop on my way to High Line Park. The subject matter is completely uninteresting, but the colors make it artful and alluring. I could see this on a small size canvas in a living area adding a slash of color to an earth-toned interior. Taken with a Zeiss 35mm f1.4 lens with a Canon 5D Mark III camera.

Stunningly detailed black and white photograph of the steel globe on display in Columbus Circle on the Upper West Side. The globe with all seven continents represented, is particularly relevant now with the Olympic Games bringing the world together in celebration of global unity and the spirit of friendly competition. This image would look phenomenal as a white frame, white mat gallery frame in almost any setting. Taken with a Canon 24-70II zoom lens.

This photo is in celebration of the 2014 Sochi Olympics and all the athletes who participated. Taken in Rockerfeller Center New York with a Zeiss 135mm Apo Sonnar lens, which is one of my favorite performers in terms of color accuracy and vibrance. The evening light provided all the contrast to make this image stand out as a recognizable scene to any native New Yorker.

I love the magic that evening light creates. This is an ordinary statue with worn surfaces and washed out colors that suddenly came alive with feeling when I took this close up shot in the late evening while the sun was setting. The colors popped, the shadow divided the composition nicely, and the feeling of serenity that I’m sure the artist intended for this piece suddenly came shining through. This would make an AMAZING large canvas piece! Taken with the most artistic lens I know of… the Zeiss 100mm Makro Planar.
